Manuel Acqualeni is a self-taught photographer based in Nice, in the south of France. After several years as a musician performing across France and Europe, he turned to photography in 2012, first capturing bands and artists from the world around him.
Over time, his work evolved into a darker and more personal universe shaped by fetish aesthetics, offbeat atmospheres, feminine beauty, and unusual visual tension. Using elements such as fake blood, ropes, masks, plastic textures, and abandoned or constructed settings, he creates images that move beyond convention and into something more immersive, strange, and deeply expressive.
More than a collection of photographs, this work is an invitation into a very personal world. A world where darkness is not used for shock alone, but as a language. A world where the bizarre, the transgressive, and the unconventional become tools for revealing another kind of beauty.
Through this universe, Manuel Acqualeni continues to challenge familiar codes and create images that resist neutrality. What emerges is a singular artistic identity, shaped by instinct, intensity, and an uncompromising commitment to visual expression.
